Class A, B and C licenses through the Vidyut Suraksha Nideshalaya. Vendor registration at Noida plants and campuses checks your license number, class and expiry, so we make sure yours is right and stays current.
Share a few details and we will tell you which class applies, what it costs and a realistic timeline.
Every UP electrical contractor license expires on 31st March of the next year, whenever it was issued. But the renewal route splits in two depending on your issue date, and most applicants only discover this at their first renewal cycle.
The regular route applies with no extra compliance.
Because the license was granted in the second half of the financial year, an additional compliance step applies for continuation.
The Directorate issues contractor licenses in categories based on the voltage you can work on and how far your geographical scope reaches. Applying under the wrong category leads to rejection and wasted fees, so this is the first decision to get right.
High Tension works, valid anywhere in Uttar Pradesh. Suited to large contractors, MEP firms, EPC companies and industrial electrical providers bidding UPPCL, UP PWD and UPRNN tenders without zone restrictions.
Medium Tension works within your allotted Mandal. Preferred by mid-sized contractors on commercial buildings, institutional projects, residential townships, small industrial units and zone-level government contracts.
Works within your specific district. Suited to residential wiring, retail shops, offices and small commercial establishments. Often the starting point for local contractors, with an upgrade path later.
| Class A | Class B | Class C | |

Keep every detail consistent across documents. A single mismatch between your GST, rent agreement and application is enough to trigger a query and add weeks to the process.
Most delays are not caused by the department. They come from applicants discovering halfway through that a supervisor license has expired or that equipment bills were never kept.
Noida was established in 1976 as the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority area and covers roughly 203 square kilometres. As of August 2025 the city accommodates in the region of 11,000 industrial units, a density of manufacturing few districts in the state come close to, and one that generates continuous electrical installation and maintenance demand.
The city has become the country's leading mobile manufacturing centre. Samsung operates one of the world's largest mobile manufacturing facilities in Sector 81 alongside a display operation and a major research campus. The Sector 80 and 81 belt also carries Berger Paints, Jubilant in pharmaceuticals and life sciences, telecom operations including Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, and automotive component manufacturers such as Moriroku Technology, Hitachi Astemo and Keihin India.
Noida also holds dense concentrations of information technology firms, with HCLTech headquartered here alongside operations of Microsoft, Arm and Barclays, plus a significant news broadcasting and media production sector. Campus and data centre work means HT connections, transformers, standby generation and UPS systems, which is exactly where Class A capability earns its keep.
The commercial reality here is documentation. Multinationals, listed companies and institutional developers run vendor onboarding that captures and verifies your license number, class and expiry date. Without a current license you generally cannot be issued a purchase order by these organisations, whatever your technical ability.
After handling contractor license applications across Uttar Pradesh, our team keeps meeting the same avoidable mistakes. A professionally reviewed file catches these before submission.
The Vidyut Suraksha Nideshalaya, the Electrical Safety Directorate of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It issues contractor licenses, supervises wireman and supervisor certifications, conducts safety inspections and enforces electrical safety norms. Applications are filed at the divisional Electrical Safety office covering the district where your registered business is located.
Class A covers High Tension work including 33KV and above, and allows you to work anywhere in Uttar Pradesh. Class B covers Medium Tension work up to 11KV within your allotted Mandal. Class C covers work below 650 volts within your specific district. Choosing the wrong category leads to rejection and wasted fees, so the class decision matters.
Yes. The applicant firm must employ at least two licensed electrical wiremen and one licensed electrical supervisor before the contractor license can be issued. The individuals hold their personal licenses and the firm holds the contractor license on top. If your staff do not hold these yet, we arrange them in parallel with your contractor application.
It is valid until 31st March of the next year from the date of issue, regardless of when in the year it was issued. A license granted in June and one granted in February both expire on the upcoming 31st March. Annual renewal must be filed before that date to continue operating legally.
If your license was issued after 15th November, the standard renewal route does not apply automatically. You will need to deposit a ₹1,000 challan with the Electrical Safety Office and file a sworn affidavit along with the renewal application to extend validity into the next financial year. We handle both the affidavit drafting and the challan deposit.
If your license was issued between 1st April and 15th November, the standard renewal procedure applies. You file the renewal during the January to March window with the regular renewal fee, before the 31st March expiry. No additional affidavit or challan is required in that case.
The process usually takes around 20 to 45 days depending on approval and verification. The biggest variable is your own readiness. A file with certified staff already in place, matching equipment bills and consistent documents moves considerably faster than one assembled reactively after a tender notice appears.
No. Electrical contractor licenses are state specific. A license issued by the UP Electrical Safety Directorate authorises work within Uttar Pradesh only. To work in another state you need a separate license from that state's licensing authority. This catches out contractors who work across state borders regularly.
Unlicensed electrical contracting attracts monetary penalties under the Electricity Act 2003, work stoppage orders on ongoing projects, disqualification from government tenders, and criminal liability if an accident occurs on your work. Operating with an expired license is treated the same as operating without one.
The contractor license itself does not involve an examination. Competency examinations apply to the Supervisor Certificate and Wireman License that your staff must hold. The contractor application is assessed on documents, staff licenses, equipment and the inspection carried out at your registered premises.
Yes. We handle upgrades from Class C to B or B to A when your business scales up and needs higher voltage work, as well as modifications for change of business name, address, partners or directors during the license period. Both need the correct supporting documents to avoid objections.
No. Noida is part of the National Capital Region and many contractors work across the Delhi border, but electrical licensing is implemented state by state. A license issued by Delhi authorities carries no authority in Uttar Pradesh. You need a license from the Vidyut Suraksha Nideshalaya to contract legally in Noida, and separate Delhi licensing for work on that side.
Routinely. Vendor onboarding at multinationals, listed companies and institutional developers commonly captures license number, class and expiry date, then verifies them before a purchase order is raised. Many portals also auto-expire vendors when the license validity date passes without an updated upload, which drops you from approved lists without a phone call.
Applications are filed at the divisional Electrical Safety office holding jurisdiction over Gautam Buddh Nagar district, where your business is registered. Noida falls administratively within the Meerut division. Filing at the wrong office wastes weeks, so we confirm the correct office and the current filing mode before your application goes in.
Tell us what electrical work you want to take on in Noida. We will tell you which class you need, what it costs in government fee and our charges separately, and a realistic timeline. No promises about approvals that depend on departmental scrutiny.
